Beckett & Oxford University Press

Oxford University Press is one of the oldest publishers and printers in the world with over 400 years of history in creating the highest quality academic resources and services.  As part of the University of Oxford, providing flexible, reliable voice connectivity is key to the day to day running of the organisation.  Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Teams had been rolled out to over 6,500 users worldwide, with voice running on a mixture of legacy Siemens, Cisco, Skype for Business and hosted platforms.

OUP wanted to provide a unified experience using Teams, but were unable to financially justify the expenditure with Microsoft Calling Plans and Per User Per Month Direct Routing Plans, and required robust security and billing tracking to reduce expenditure and fraudulent charges.    Becketts proposed Teams Enabled SIP Trunks removing the requirement for OUP to purchase or manage Teams Certified SBC’s on site, and working with OUP’s IT supplier Cognizant, ported and migrated 2,500 users to Teams over a 6 week period.

The solution ensured that the legacy equipment remained in place and working to ensure a managed migration, and has saved OUP in excess of £120,000 per year against previous telephony charges.
