Personal Profile and Woman’s Best Friend.

Hi, I’m Karla and I am a long standing member of Beckett Telecom, firstly working in admin and then making the move over to Sales where I enjoy speaking to both regular and new customers.  Like many people, I have spent the last year working from home and although it hasn’t always been easy, it has been made a lot more fun by having more time with my gorgeous boy Dexter.

Dexter was a rescue dog who was 3 when he came to us.  He suffered with extreme anxiety, which with the help of medication has greatly reduced but is still there.  Helping him feel safe and calm has been hard work at times but when those small moments of trust happen, everything is so worthwhile. Owning a pet is a big responsibility, gone are the days of going off for the weekend whenever the mood strikes but the love that you get from an animal more than makes up for it.  Dexter is definitely a calming influence in times of stress and I don’t think a single day has passed that he hasn’t made me laugh for some reason or another.

Over the past 12 months we have spent so much more time together and being the spoiled diva that he is I have been even more at his beck and call than I already was! If you have ever met a Doberman you will know what I mean – they are not called Velcro dogs for nothing!

We have missed going out for runs, due to his anxiety he has a fear of other dogs and people he doesn’t know, so we normally go to a private hire field where he can run and play, safely away from others.  Lockdown has unfortunately meant the closure of our local fields so we have been confined to the garden, although being 9 ½ years of age he doesn’t seem to mind.

I do wonder how he will cope when we return to normal working hours, but knowing Dexter he will probably just sleep longer and hopefully not notice I’ve even left the building!
