West Suffolk College

West Suffolk College were using Skype for Business (SfB) with onsite Session Border Controllers, Gamma SIP Trunks and 925 users. The Session Border Controllers were becoming increasingly unreliable and the College was looking to migrate to a wholly cloud based solution for all TEAMS Calling.  After running a competitive tender, Becketts Teams Enabled SIP Trunks were chosen as providing the greatest reliability, cost effectiveness and ease of migration.

Becketts provided the College with:

  • 40 Teams Enabled SIP Trunks with “No engaged guarantee”
  • Microsoft Engineering to set up services such as hunt groups, pick up groups, voicemail etc
  • Migration of all users from SfB to Teams
  • Provision of 600 new DDI numbers to enable all users to make and receive calls
  • Common Area Phones and set up
  • Porting of all existing numbers

Becketts set up Teams Enabled SIP Trunks to run concurrently with the existing solution allowing the solution to be built and tested with no interruption to day to day service.  Once tested and proven numbers were ported from Gamma to ensure users were transferred to Teams and could make and receive calls.

This multi-faceted project took 5 weeks from the initial engineering meeting to completion, providing a robust and incredibly cost-effective solution for enrolment and exam results.
